Bremer State High School is proud to announce that Dillan Walker, our Cultural Teacher Aide, was recently awarded a 2024 QATSIF Deadly Educator Award. This award, presented by the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF), recognises Dillan's ongoing commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
QATSIF is dedicated to improving education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Queensland by providing scholarships and supporting initiatives that enhance cultural understanding and pride. The Deadly Educator Award recognises educators who go above and beyond to positively impact the lives of First Nations students, fostering cultural pride and connection.
Dillan's work extends far beyond his formal role, as he strives to create a sense of community and belonging for our First Nations students. His efforts have been instrumental in the growth of the First Nations Dance Troupe, as well as in the development of other cultural programs like didgeridoo workshops, yarning circles, and sporting groups. Through these initiatives, Dillan ensures students feel connected to their heritage and gain a deeper understanding of cultural practices, traditions, and protocols.
We are proud to celebrate Dillan's achievements and grateful for the positive influence he continues to have on our school community. Congratulations, Dillan!
