Instrumental Music Captain, Year 12 Student
During our Bremer music sleepover, we engaged in a range of team-building games and held a short rehearsal for a concert on Saturday morning. From building towers with spaghetti and marshmallows to playing a game of red rover, we had the chance to connect with the talented instrumental students from other ensembles.
After the ensemble rehearsals, we played a surprising, yet entertaining game of Kahoot, where we discovered unusual facts about our teachers. As the night progressed, we gathered for a movie (Freaky Friday) and most of the students eventually settled in to sleep. However, as a treat for our final year, the year 12s and teachers had a lovely dessert of Tim Tams and hot chocolate. The Saturday morning concert marked the conclusion to our sleepover.
I found the Kahoot game most enjoyable, as it allowed me to learn more about my teachers. I also enjoyed getting to know my musical peers more. This event brought together instrumental music students from all grades, and the feedback from everyone was that we all had a great time. I suspect the teachers may have secretly enjoyed themselves even more than us!
For those uncertain about participating in future sleepovers, I wholeheartedly encourage you to give it a try! While sleeping over with unfamiliar people can feel daunting, I assure you that everyone is incredibly kind and welcoming. I made multiple friends during the event, and there was never a moment where I wasn't having a great time. The experience was truly memorable.
