August 31, 2023, marked a significant day for our school as we took part in our first ever Jersey Day. This nationwide initiative has been gaining momentum all over Australia, and I knew our school community needed to be a part of it. This special day isn't just about sports jerseys; it's about raising awareness for something that's incredibly close to my heart: organ and tissue donation.
My passion for Jersey Day goes deeper than just my love for sport or wearing a sports jersey. In 2016, at the age of 10, I was diagnosed with Vanishing Bile Duct Syndrome, and I received a life-saving liver transplant. Today, I stand here, living proof of the incredible impact of organ and tissue donation. So, for me, Jersey Day was more than just an event; it was a chance to share my story and advocate for this important cause.
On the big day, I was blown away by the support from our Bremer community. I mean, wow, just wow! There were hundreds of students proudly wearing their sports jerseys. It was a heart-warming sight to see our everyone come together in such a meaningful way. I couldn't help but smile when I passed someone wearing a jersey, especially if they were someone I didn’t know.
I spent the day wandering around, trying to guess what different jerseys represented and searching for the coolest and most unique ones. I spotted a Texas Terriers rugby league jersey, a volleyball jersey, and I might have even seen a Hungarian under-18 squash team's jersey. It was a day I'll never forget, and I hope it continues next year, and the year after that, and the year after that.
If you're curious about my personal journey and why Jersey Day means so much to me, you can read more about it here.

I couldn't be prouder of our school and how we came together for Jersey Day and I hope to see this become a tradition that continues every year.
