Guidance Officers

Bremer State High School offers the services of three Guidance Officers to provide support for all members of the school community: students, parents and carers. 

 The Guidance Officers provide:

  • counselling for students (issues such as friendships and relationships, stress management, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, family issues
  • career counselling (such as subject selection, tertiary study advice, career development). 

The role of our Guidance Officers is also to be an advocate for students and to liaise with community agencies on student issues.External link

Guidance Officers remain with their student cohort throughout their schooling. In 2024:

  • Mr James Batchelder looks after students in Year 7 & 12
  • Ms Sofie Buchholz looks after students in Year 8 & 11 
  • Ms Michelle Jensen looks after students in Year 9 & 10
