Bremer State High School offers a broad curriculum designed to challenge and support every learner. From Years 7 to 10, students can participate in academic extension classes in English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities.

Learning beyond the curriculum

Students continue to study the Australian Curriculum while engaging with concepts in greater depth and complexity. Through intellectually challenging and purposeful learning experiences, students are encouraged to:

• think critically and creatively

• investigate complex ideas and real-world problems

• make connections within and across subject areas

• develop independence, curiosity and confidence

• extend their knowledge and skills beyond year-level expectations.

Student selection

Placement in extension classes is based on a balanced range of evidence. This includes Bremer State High School testing, primary school achievement data and standardised assessments such as NAPLAN.

This approach helps us identify students who are ready to benefit from greater pace, depth and academic challenge.

Supporting students to excel

Our Academic Extension Program gives highly capable students the opportunity to learn alongside peers who share their enthusiasm for learning. With high expectations and expert teacher support, students are encouraged to pursue excellence and reach their academic potential.
