Welcome to the Bremer Basketball Academy
Established: 2023
The Bremer Basketball Academy is designed to support student-athletes at all stages of their basketball journey, from beginners to advanced players. Our program focuses on developing on-court fundamentals through advanced skill training, strength and conditioning programs. At the core of the Bremer Basketball Academy is our mission: Dream, Work, Inspire. With high-level coaching, strong partnerships, and top-tier facilities, our academy is the ideal environment for aspiring basketball players to reach their potential.
Partnerships
Ipswich Basketball Association:
Through our partnership with the Ipswich Basketball Association, IBA coaches and NBL1 players run weekly sessions for our students. These sessions cater to junior girls, junior boys, and high-performance athletes, ensuring opportunities for all skill levels. Best of all, these sessions are offered free of charge to all Bremer State High students.
See Mr Ringholt in the HPE Staffroom for permission forms to attend these sessions.
Brisbane Bullets:
Our exclusive partnership with the Brisbane Bullets brings unique benefits to our academy. Brisbane Bullets players attend training sessions to mentor our student-athletes, providing invaluable advice and inspiration. Additionally, students have opportunities to attend Bullets games and engage with the team in various ways.
Hoopers Heaven:
Hoopers Heaven, an indoor basketball shooting and skills centre, is equipped with DR. Dish and RSPCT Basketball technologies in a fully air-conditioned space. Open Boys, Open Girls basketball teams, and Bremer High Performance Academy Athletes have the opportunity to use this facility periodically throughout the school year, perfecting their shooting skills in a professional environment.
Basketball in the Curriculum
At Bremer State High School, basketball is integrated into the curriculum. Students in Years 7 and 8 participate in basketball-specific classes as part of the Health and Physical Education (HPE) Australian Curriculum. In Years 10, 11, and 12, students can take basketball as a subject under the Sports and Recreation Australian Curriculum, combining theoretical classroom sessions with practical on-court training.
