In Year 10, students begin their Senior Education and Training Plan (SET-P)—a vital step in shaping a clear and personalised pathway towards further education, training, or employment.
This plan helps students set goals, make informed decisions, and choose the right subjects for their senior years based on their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
SET Planning Phases
The Senior Education and Training Plan (SET-P) is developed across Year 10 through four key phases. This structured process supports students in identifying their interests, exploring career options, and choosing a pathway that aligns with their future goals.
Phase 1: Know Yourself (Term 1)
Students begin with self-reflection, gaining insight into their strengths, interests, and aspirations.
What students do:
- Reflection activities to identify personal skills and passions
- Online quizzes via My Future to explore career matches
- Guidance Officer presentation covering:
- The SET-P process
- Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) requirements
- The importance of pathway planning
How You Can Support Your Student During This Phase

Phase 4: Finalising Your SET-P (Term 3 – 11–15 August)
SET-Ps are finalised in a one-on-one interview with students, parents/carers, and school staff. What happens during SET-P Interviews:
