Welcome to the Bremer Netball Academy, where we're committed to helping students develop their netball skills on and off the court.

Established in 2023, and expanding in 2024 with the support of Netball Queensland, our academy provides a pathway for student-athletes of all skill levels; from beginners to those with intermediate and advanced skills, as well as those looking to advance their skills and qualifications in coaching, umpiring and becoming a bench official.

The Bremer Netball Academy aims to develop holistic athletes and students. Student-athletes will have the opportunity to develop their skills during curriculum lessons (Years 7-10 in 2024, expanding to Years 11-12 from 2025) and extracurricular sessions, under the guidance of highly qualified Bremer staff and guest coaches.

Netball in the Curriculum:

At Bremer State High School, netball is part of the curriculum. In Year 7 and 8, netball specific classes are formed under the Health and Physical Education (HPE) Australian Curriculum. In 2024, students in Years 9 and 10 will have the opportunity to choose ‘Netball Academy’ as an elective, with subjects in Year 11-12 being added from 2025.

Playing Netball at Bremer:

In 2024, Bremer SHS is fielding girls, boys and mixed teams to compete in a variety of external competitions including:

  • CISSSA weekly competition

  • CISSSA mixed twilight competition

  • Vicki Wilson Cup and Shield

  • Super 7s (competition each term with competitive and social divisions)

  • Tournaments and matches against other Netball Academy schools

Coaching Experience:

Georgia is an Advanced Accredited Netball coach who will be beginning her Elite Accreditation in 2024. Coaching Philosophy:

Georgia's coaching philosophy is centred on providing netball athletes with a safe and supportive environment to reach their full potential. She serves as a positive role model, fostering strong connections with her players. Georgia encourages them to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and enjoy both their on-court and off-court experiences. She maintains high expectations, equipping her athletes with the skills and knowledge needed for individual improvement, strategic play, and team unity. Georgia values independent thinking on the court, often engaging in constructive questioning during training. Her coaching approach extends beyond netball, as she takes a holistic interest in her athletes' lives, prioritizing their overall well-being.

Future Focus for the Bremer Sports Academy:

As a coach for the Bremer Sports Academy, Georgia is committed to developing holistic student-athletes, that engage not only with the wider netball operations such as coaching and umpiring, but also take pride in their behaviour, effort, attendance and academic achievement. There are so many opportunities to get involved in netball in a variety of ways and Georgia hopes to foster this passion in all Netball Academy students, as well as nurturing and extending high performing athletes to achieve their netball goals.
