We are excited to introduce Kapa Haka, our Māori Culture Group, to the vibrant cultural offerings at Bremer State High School. Established in 2023, this initiative is proudly led by two of our senior students, who are passionate about sharing the beauty of Māori traditions with the entire school community.
Every week, after school, our dedicated Kapa Haka group gathers for practice sessions. Here, students have the opportunity to delve into the heart of Māori culture. They learn Māori language, explore myths and legends, and immerse themselves in the richness of Māori heritage. These skills culminate in performances at school events, including Harmony Day, Multicultural Night, and various other celebratory occasions.
We extend a warm invitation to all students with a connection to New Zealand to join Kapa Haka and contribute their own knowledge and experiences. However, we're equally enthusiastic about welcoming any Bremer student who shares an interest in discovering the beauty of Māori culture.
We value the importance of family and community in this journey of cultural exploration. Parents and family members who wish to lend their support or volunteer their assistance are more than welcome. Please note that, for participation involving our students' safety, a blue card will be required.
