Bremer State High School has been honoured with an invitation to join the Construction Pathways School Partner program as a Building and Construction Gateways school, recognising the school’s strong commitment to supporting students interested in pursuing careers within the construction industry.
As part of this partnership, our school will gain exclusive access to a range of construction-focused learning activities, events, and specialised resources for both students and teachers. This collaboration will also provide enhanced opportunities for students to connect with potential future employers within the booming construction sector.
The official partnership was celebrated during a special ceremony on Monday, 28 April 2025, where Executive Principal Chris Owen received a partnership plaque, and was presented with a commemorative construction hard hat.
Led by Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), the Construction Pathways initiative is designed to inspire and equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experiences necessary to pursue rewarding careers in construction. Through a variety of engaging activities, such as site visits, classroom resources, and interactive experiences, students are exposed to the diverse opportunities within the industry.
CSQ CEO, Geoff Clare, praised our school for its dedication to offering students real-world experiences that inform their career decisions.
"Bremer State High School has demonstrated a commendable commitment to guiding students toward meaningful career pathways by offering invaluable exposure to the construction industry," Mr Clare said. "The Construction Pathways School Partners program is an invitation-only initiative, and we are excited to collaborate with Bremer to provide access to unique resources, exclusive events, and industry connections. These experiences might include VR classroom simulations, ‘Construction Chats’ with industry professionals, site tours, and hands-on ‘Try-a-Trade’ workshops."
“Choosing subjects and planning a career path can be challenging for students and their families. The Construction Pathways program offers vital insights into job opportunities, salary expectations, training options, and a firsthand look at the daily realities of the construction industry. Our aim is to spark curiosity and inspire students to consider a future in this growing field."
Executive Principal Chris Owen expressed her enthusiasm for the new partnership, highlighting the long-term benefits for both students and teachers.
"We are thrilled to be part of the Construction Pathways School Partner program. This collaboration opens up a wealth of exciting learning experiences for our students and will equip our teachers with the tools and resources to better support students as they explore career options in construction," Ms Owen said. "We look forward to working closely with CSQ to make the most of these opportunities throughout the year."
Throughout 2025, the Construction Pathways team will work closely with our school to create a tailored program of engagements, ensuring students have access to a wide range of enriching opportunities through this exclusive partnership.
