INTERAGENCY TEAM
Guidance Officers
ROLE: To provide a comprehensive Guidance and Counselling Program to students, staff and the school community by:
Community Education Counsellor
ROLE: To provide academic and personal support to ATSI students and their parents by:
monitoring student progress
regular liaison with class teachers and admin
home visits with parents
networking (Department, local community agencies)
Youth Health Nurse
ROLE: To work with students, school staff and parents to:
Address concerns and problems about health and well being
Create a more supportive healthy school environment
Participate in Health Education programs
Connect people to other support services inside and outside the school
This service includes private confidential consultations for students and/or parents and teachers;
Youth Support Coordinator
ROLE: A Youth Worker who assists and supports students who are at risk of homelessness and early school leaving through:
Individual support and counselling for students at risk, and their families.
Advocating on behalf of students at risk and liaising with school personnel
Involvement in development of whole-of-school strategies- working with the school to provide a supportive environment for students at risk
Making linkages and referrals to community organisations to support young people
Chaplain
ROLE: To assist the school community to experience self-worth, positive relationships and healthy community through:
Providing pastoral care
Providing spiritual guidance
Fostering a caring and encouraging school environment
Assisting alienated students to better integrate into the school community
Linking students into existing support structures (internal & external)
Providing a safe place for students to attend at lunch times
Building supportive relationships with all members of the school community
Being a positive role model
School Liaison Defence Mentor
ROLE: To provide assistance to students from Australian Defence Force (ADF) families with any aspect of secondary schooling:
with transition between schools for mobile families
with school information e.g. Enrolment procedures, subject selection, school policies
recognise and support the unique needs of students from ADF families
encourage young people to explore options and make the most of opportunities available to them.
